Candida and pro-biotics question.

Postby Fuzzyliz » Fri Oct 21, 2011 7:16 am

Dd has again had an absolute flare up of psoriasis. Last time was about 4 or 5 years ago, and she has been completely clear since then, about a month ago it started again and it has totally covered her again. Last time she followed a very very strict anti-candida diet (which we are considering doing again). She went on a website

http://www.candidafree.co.uk/

which had a questionaire which showed she had a high level of candida - I read the report and it was very like a report from a nutritionist friend of ours and I felt it was OK - it was a free report, but it said what I expected it to say - if that makes sense.

They are however, promoting a product - Threelac - it contains probiotics that feed off the candida and will help her to deal with the psoriasis quicker than just the diet.

It is a bit costly but not exorbitantly so. I wondered if anyone had heard of it or could look at it on the website and give me some feed back and advice before I buy it - it will be a lot for us to pay, but if it helps her than I'll pay anything I can!!

Thanks.

I've had problems off and on for years with Candida. No reason to pay extra. A good probiotic (kind that must be refrigerated) will do the same thing.

Be VERY VERY VERY wary of that questionnaire. I 'took' it (I have NO candida issues) and answered zero to almost everything. A few questions were absurd ("Do you ever have headaches?") Well, duh. I'm sure I've had a headache sometime in my life. I just bet they will email me with a product which is just perfect for all my "ailments."

I asked my nutritionist about Threelac, and he said it's an excellent product.

Most people who adhere to conventional medical information are unaware of how extensive candida issues are in western populations. Since your dd has already been diagnosed with candida problems, and she's experiencing the same symptoms, I'd say go ahead with the probiotics. They can't hurt, but they can make an amazing difference in quality of life and healing of symptoms, as you already know.

Thanks Kate, that is what I wanted, someone who knew about it! I know that the better quality products cost more but are more effective.

Vicki the candida questionnaire is somewhat strange - I have a friend who is a nutritionist who has done a lot of research into this and also has a questionnaire on her website - but we would have to pay about £45 to do it and from her last one back 4 years or so ago it would read almost the same as the one she did on this site - so I am happy with that, even if the site is 'fixed' I know she has a high candida score and a high candida problem. She did so well with the diet before - incredibly strict but it completely cleared it. When she came off the diet she went slightly mad and over the course of 4 years all the good work she did has been undone. That isn't to say that she will have to be on the diet for the rest of her life, just that she will need to be far more careful over what she eats and how much sugar she consumes one way or another. She knows that, she knew it and hoped it wasn't the case!

We'll get the threelac and try it for the 60 days, plus the diet. Her appointment with the dermatologist isn't until the end of January - maybe she will be clear by then. Whilst the light therapy is very good - you can only have so many treatments before you are more at risk of skin cancers and as we have had skin cancers in the family I don't really want her having to have it a lot. It might be that it will clear up the tail end of it this time, and if Naomi takes care she could be clear for years.

So thanks for taking the time to answer.

If it doesn't bother you that it's made in Japan, I guess it can't hurt to try. Let us know if it helps. :)

I hadn't seen the Japan link - is that a problem? Is there something I'm not aware of?

Not everything made in Japan glows in the dark, you know. Be realistic.

Honestly, I know your feelings towards Japan, but it's a small island. I wouldn't rush to ingest something made in Japan. Maybe that makes me Japanaphobic, but I can live with that.

I also try to avoid ingesting things from China. Chinaphobic as well.

Sorry I just don't get that! I get the China bit as there have been some real proven concerns with some of their stuff - but I've never been worried about Japan - should I be? Is there something I don't know? It's a country I have always longed to visit, but unlikely I will. (Maybe I'm really naive!)
