Bible studies for a new believer

Postby HeyThereDelilah » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:16 am

I am very excited about the recent conversion of my husband. He takes his Bible to work with him every day and will text me verses that he's been reading and wants me to read. He is a completely different person, all glory to GOD! God is so good and faithful!

There are Bible studies that have you go through specific books of the Bible and there are studies that teach about things like "Christian living" and such. Which do you think is good for a new believer? I think both would be beneficial, but is there a type that you think would be best to start with?

Personally for a beginner I recommend reading through the gospels. If you find a Bible with excellent commentary and explanations that should be enough for right now - again, in my opinion.

Yes, I always suggest new believers start in the NT. I think I found a study we will all do together. It's called The Most Important Thing You'll Ever Study.

This will actually be MY first bible study and I like that it's not really commentary (or at least the samples don't look like it's much commentary), just taking you through the whole Bible. I've never been fond of Bible studies or Bibles with commentary.

Dh has been in the Word every day! Very, very encouraging to see this complete transformation take place. :ptl

I really, really like these books. They are very readable, and small--so they are not 'threatening.' They do *not* need to be read in 30 days.

http://www.amazon.com/30-Days-Through-B ... 649&sr=1-1

This is also good, but after the other two:

After those, if the believer wants to read the entire Bible, this is excellent:
