Low quality shredded beef in chili

When I bought the meat, I did not realize that it was full of gristle but I still used it as intended.

I cooked it as slow as I dared (to ensure it was ready for dinner before church). It ended up not being too tough in the chili.
How would you have used it?

I just took the package out of the trash. It says it's for beef carne picada. I guess I need to find a recipe and see what it says. I might learn something.

I use ground beef in chili.

I have, when I've been able to get a super deal, purchased meat to can. I have a pressure canner and the meat is always tender after it's canned.

I usually use ground beef too but I pay a pretty penny for 93% fat free. This meat was 50% off so I bought it and figured I'd use it for chili or beef tips & rice or such. I like to get as much meat on clearance as I can. My hamburger is almost never clearance priced.
