Thanks for the heads-up, Vicki. I hadn't seen that yet. I don't have a chance to check out the link yet, but I'll look at it later today.

I'm still doing the no-poo thing, but so far I can't go more than every other day with the baking soda. And I feel like my hair is less than its best on the off days. And on the off days, I've been doing a vinegar/water rinse, but I'm thinking that needs to be eliminated.

The jury's still out on the whole issue. But I'm still trying.

I read the link, thanks. I remember you said that at first you were washing too often. Am I doing that? Am I prolonging this "greasy" stage by doing the baking soda/vinegar thing every other day?

In between days, can I just do water, or is the vinegar/water mix helping to eliminate the grease?

I'm trying to hard to like this... I don't hate it, necessarily, but I don't love it yet. My dd said my hair looks dry. Hmm...that's not what it FEELS like! She's only 13, what does she know anyway?

It's hard for me to say, but I know I was overdoing it with the baking soda. I do it once a week now, or maybe twice. Water only on the other days unless I feel like washing it with Silkience (Dollar Store) conditioner.

Do you use a lot of gel in your hair?

Not using anything else right now, Vicki. Not conditioner or gel. I tried a cone-free mousse a few days, but that was during the super-greasy beginning and I quit. Same with the conditioner. I have sprayed a teeny bit of hairspray a couple of times since starting this regimen.

It may just not work for your hair. You can spend a lot of money and get a non-sodium laurel sulfite or whatever it's called ingredient, but that didn't do a thing different for my hair.

I'll keep trying it for a bit. The link you sent said 2-4 weeks, some a bit longer. I'm at about 3 weeks now. I'll just do baking soda every other day until the grunge is out. :) If we're still like this in 2 months, then....

I do soda only once or twice a week. I have done that since the beginning. I use a non cone conditioner also $ store, each time and usually in between the soda days. I use the vinegar rinse maybe once a week. My hair felt the worst between week 3-4, but at the same time I was getting compliments on my hair. I think I started about the same time Vicki did. I won't go back. My hair feels thicker and is shinier, and softer. People have told me that my hair feels so nice compared to others my age.

Am I taking 2 steps forward and 3 steps back to do the baking soda every other day? That's my only concern. I kinda like the way it feels on day 1. I just don't trust what it'll look like on day 3 if I don't do the baking soda again.

I'm not good at change....

Do what works. You're not hurting your hair by experimenting. You would be 'sabotaging' your hair if you used shampoo every other day and soda on the off days. That would defeat the purpose.

But you don't have to do it. As Jean said, maybe it works better for curlies. :)
