When would you test?

Postby HeyThereDelilah » Tue Jun 07, 2011 8:45 pm

Would you do a pregnancy test on the 18th or 19th of June if ovulation kit gave you a smiley on the 5th? I'd like to know in time for Father's Day but it might be too soon, though I don't think so. The 5th was the 14th day of my cycle, which is usually 28 days long. I know this sounds like such a detailed and personal question but I also know some of you are very knowledgeable about fertility things.

The pregnancy tests are usually able to tell as early as 4 days before your period, but if I were you, I would wait until after you are supposed to start your period. From what you said, the 18/19 would be around the start, so you could do it if you wanted to, but a missed period would be a good indicator so you don't waste a test.

Good luck!!!

Theoretically, it's ten days after conception as "ig" said. The longer the better, but if the tests were cheap enough I'd probably be testing daily anyway (like a week after, but that's because I'd be impatient :P).

You can often find them at the dollar stores. :)

I'm sorry...I don't have any good info on when you should test.

Here's hoping it's a super-happy father's day! :)

Tamie, I had to laugh at your post. :greengrin

Vicki, I hear ya! The thing is, from what I've read, we don't really know when conception actually occurs. Or do you mean ten days after intercourse? I ask because I've read conception does not occur at that time. It's likely I read it wrong. I'm starting to feel very foolish about my ignorance on this topic. :whistle

Most sperm will die within 2 days, but if all is right they can live up to 5 days within the cervix. (yes, I looked it up.)

I think that the male sperm live only a few days and the female-determiners can live up to five (or vice versa) :silly . So, yes. Conception could occur later.
