Our family has been using Tapestry of Grace for 7 years now, and for OUR family it is a great match.
Tapestry is a classical curriculum that studies history in a 4 year cycle. Year 1 covers from Creation to Fall of Rome. Year 2 covers from the Fall of Rome until 1800. Year 3 covers the 1800s Year 4 is modern history.
Each Year integrates History, Literature, Geography, Bible and/or Church History, and Fine Arts. Older students can also study Philosophy and Government.
Each year plan has lessons for each age range divided into Lower Grammar, Upper Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric according to classical divisions. (Approximately K-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12) And writing has 12 different levels.
This curriculum can be VERY overwhelming if you feel the need to do everything suggested, but if you do not mind taking some time to plan, and can handle picking and choosing what you do, this is a WONDERFUL curriculum. It is clearly advanced and the high school level is definitely college preparatory in levels of difficulty.
We love the selections of literature, the depth of discussion, the weaving of history with art and literature and church studies. We enjoy having a wide variety of options for art and art history, geography, and extras. We do NOT do everything and we do NOT stress over that.
NOTE: We use the classic version, but tapestry's new version is supposedly more user friendly. I can not comment on that as we are still using classic happily. Tapestry has 3 week samples available on their website for those who feel up to tackling this VERY involved curriculum.
