I used to have a similar book that I gave away a long time ago and now wish I still had.

The favorite game from my book was called "snake in the grass." You lay out clear boundaries in a grassy area and clear out sticks and stones from that rectangular area. The game starts with one child as "it." The IT kneels in the grass and all other players place one finger on the IT. The IT calls "Snake in the grass!" and immediately everyone scatters. The IT tags people and as IT tags people they must hold hands a form a chain (snake). Either end of the "snake" can tag players who have not joined the snake. As soon as all players have joined the snake the last player tagged is the new IT and the game starts over.

The game can be played by the players standing and running, crawling, or even slithering around like snakes. The original rules say slithering, but I found that clothes get lots of grass stains that way and running is just as much fun.

One day when our girls were young and still needed naps/rest times, Cheryl made up a game called "Hide and Go Sleep". Each girl crept away to find a secluded place where she could get comfortable and read/nap. The little ones loved it -- and one or two actually did go to sleep!
