Sugar Cookie as a BASE/What to change them to?

Postby TamieJP » Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:07 pm

I got a case of sugar cookies because they cost less that way. I figured that I could add to a sugar cookie to make it what I want.

What cookies can I make sugar cookies into? EASY first answer is Snickerdoodles.

That sounds like a fun challenge!! I take it this is pre-made dough? How about if you cut rounds, cut a shape out of the center of some and stack them on another cookie, and fill the center with jam .. different colors would make a stained glass look.. You could also put a hershey's kiss in some of them, (don't know what those are called but you see them a lot on Christmas cookie trays), you could roll some into balls and bake at a lower temperature for a little longer (so they don't spread, but stay balls- knead in a little extra flour if you need to) and toss in powdered sugar.. You can use premade dough to make hamentashen- traditional Purim filled cookies (I've done it tons of times).. Just fill and fold cookie dough rounds like they were going to be tortellini.. fill with canned date or apricot filling, chopped candy bars, whatever pleases you! And again, bake at a lower temp for a little longer so they hold their shape.. I'll keep thinking... I think I'd make a whole lot more Christmas cookies if I didn't have to actually make the cookies, LOL...

Thats even better, because some of the doughs you want a little stiffer you could add just a little bit of flour, and it makes them hold their shape better!!
