What is this knife used for?

Postby TamieJP » Mon Jul 23, 2012 6:26 pm

Trying to describe the knife won't be easy but I will try and I will post some poor pictures since that's all I have. :grinning

This knife has a blade that is folded at a 90degree bend so that it has two sharp edges that would slice at the same time. The blade is 'folded' and level with the handle. The sharp blades come to a point at the tip of the knife. The idea of it made me think of making watermelon look like this picture as a plausible purpose of it. Image

I did not see it on either page.

The Chisel Ground picture from the first link has an optical illusion that LOOKS LIKE IT. I had to read the description to figure out that I was wrong.

Where did you get it? Are there any markings on it?

LOL, I could not FIND it in the kitchen because it's still on my scanner!!

I see the word FRANCE. Maybe the word geco

I am going to have to wait for younger eyes to look tomorrow. I got it at a garage sale "take all" situation.

It is the kind of knife used to make the watermelon basket in the top picture. I have one, but mine is plastic. It works on all kinds of fruits to make different decorative pieces.

Okay, all that I needed to do was READ THE WRITING on the blade: deco model depose France is on the blade

I found it on eBay and it's a much better picture. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Deglon-Inox-Fruit-Decorator-Decofruit-Modele-Depose-France-/251113447706?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7787211a#ht_711wt_698

(And---- the blade is NOT 90 degree. I guess I was tired and not thinking. I was going to post that news first. :grinning
