I successfully plunged the shower and had the water drain quickly for almost 2 weeks. It's now backing up again but not to the point of nearly flowing over the 4 inch shower drain. I might get away w/o plunging for another week. It's really rare to get it to drain quickly so I'm getting more time out of the last plunge.

I usually try to get the clog to come UP into the shower and throw it away. I decided the last time to PLUNGE with ALL MY MIGHT. I did so but my muscles hurt for 2 or 3 days afterward. I intend to use the same method next time. I was thinking of something I saw about plunging a toilet (probably on the Internet). It was said that if you were not splashing the horrid stuff all over yourself, then you were not plunging hard enough. I kept that in mind as I plunged the shower.
