Song--'Our God is Greater'

Some of the lyrics sort of bother me. By saying that our God is greater--doesn't that imply that there are other gods? I know people believe that there are other gods, but there is only God.

However, in my devotionals today I was reading Psalm 96, which also talks about other gods.

For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised:
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols:
but the LORD made the heavens.

So, any thoughts? Are there other gods? I don't just mean in people's eyes. Thanks--on my way out the door.

I didn't look at the song and this is just a short response cuz I have to get the house vacuumed before women's Bible study but the above verse says who these "gods" are (idols) and the "gods" are demonic authorities in the lives of people. Paul talks about this somewhere and I'll have to look it up. That's just a quick observation....

That's my take on it as far as the Psalm is concerned--but what about the song's lyrics (with the very catchy tune--it's been in my mind all day)?

I have always seen it as "God is stronger, bigger, more powerful, etc than anything man can throw at us."
It reminds me more of Romans 8:35-39.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[j]

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
