Right stuff--wrong use

Postby Barbara » Tue May 29, 2012 8:59 pm

Do you ever find yourself using something incorrectly? I have sticky notes all over the place but for the past two nights I have been using plain paper and tape to put a reminder on my microwave for the next day. My son just saw it and said "Mom, you have sticky notes, why are you using tape?". I laughed because not only had I not been using them to post notes, I was using them as "regular" paper and turning down the sticky part so I could put them in my purse. :silly

LOL!!

I was using a sticky note as a bookmark. I realize people do that on purpose, but I'm not one of them. To me, it's annoying to have it stick to the book. And it never dawned on me to turn the sticky part down! :clown

Together we'd use stickies and plain paper perfectly!

I use them for notes to take with me too and turn the sticky down. They are just the right size for that. I also find that the sticky only works well when I don't want it to. Your taped notes are much more secure.

I use sticky notes inside the reproducible books with my kids' initials and an arrow pointing to "start here" so I know where to go when it's copy time. Helps me a lot!

Did you know that sticky notes were first invented to mark pages in church hymnals? A fellow who worked for 3M was working on the project in the time alloted for special projects. He says there are a lot of pages stuck together in his hymnal in choir from prototypes that didn't work so well...

Yet another useless piece of my vast ornamental knowledge....

That is neat Mac. For some reason I thought these were an accident or is that tape?

Like the rest of you, I have used them in books and such to mark something. You should see a cookbook I have that has a ton of them marking recipes that "one day" I plan to make. I really like all the new stuff they have come out with. Dh has a highlighter that has stickies so you can do both at the same time. I have bought tabs but haven't used them yet.

Anita, I am with you that tape is more secure. I recently bought Super Sticky Post-it notes that really do stick. That is what I need to be using. I would not use them in a book because I feel they are a tad too strong and might tear a page.
