Diagramming sentences

Postby TamieJP » Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:19 am

I think I want EG to have at least an introductory lesson on diagramming sentences. What prerequisites should I prepare her with before doing so? What curriculum do you think would be a good introduction? Would you do more than just an introductory lesson? EG's doing 7/8th grade work at this time.

She says that she wants to teach Language Arts to 2-3rd grade students at a Christian school so I am thinking that she should have MORE than just an introduction to diagramming sentences but I have not looked into the idea at all yet.

When do you want to do this?
I bought a workbook that we're using that we are liking. I'm almost done with it and can send it over when we finish. We're not writing in it and are about 20 pages from finishing.

I got it from Rainbow Resource Center. It's called "Step-by-Step Grammar Volume 1:Basic Grammar"

If you're looking for cheap and thorough, look at Grade 6 of Rod and Staff. It'w way more grammar than most high schools ever see! And it really covers diagrammiing.

There are a lot of used ones out there.

I can wait a bit because I just decided to check her grammar book and realized there is not sentence diagramming. She schools through the summer so again, we are in no hurry. Let me know how much I owe you. :grinning

Years ago I heard from very credible sources that if every high school senior went through the R & S 4th grade English book, he/she would know much more than most people. I believe it.
