Wanna see what I've been up to?

Bathroom demolition!! Since moving into an older home, I've wanted to get rid of this peachy pink bathroom. )
I asked dh if he trusted me to "just remove some of the tile so I could put sheetrock up...we'll that turned into a complete bathroom renovation!
By the time I finished, I had removed the toilet, pedestal sink, tile throughout and the tub as well. I've replaced the plumbing, installed the new toilet and a new sink is going in tomorrow. Check out my two videos. one is partly during demolition and the second is as of today after I painted! I'M ALMOST DONE!!!
I'll post

On this one I had to twist the camera to get a better view, but you can get an idea. The green is much nicer off camera. It's a light leaf green.
I am so pleased with how the spackling came out. You can't see where the wallboard meets!

I like your voice.
Is the tub an over-lay thing or is it all new?

Wow, nice job. Looks very good. I am impressed. .
By the way, I was intrigued by the way you speak. Where are you from, if I may ask? You sound like you have a bit of a southern lilt in your voice, but it's combined with maybe an eastern accent. I'm not sure.

Oh Christine! You are wonderful in the kitchen and now redoing your entire bathroom! I am so proud of you! Very very impressive and I love your voice too!

Thanks for peeking guys and for letting me boast! The bathtub and surround are not overlays (if you mean rebath kind of thing). I completely removed the tile, the walls and the tub. The WHOLE ROOM was down to the studs. I bought the bathtub & surround at Home Depot.
My voice... hmm, I've never been complimented for it. THANKS for the comments((blushing)) I'm a Jersey girl replanted in PA. I wish you all could see the original walls next to the tub. It was pink tile 1/2 walls with a section of the wall in a beigy-pink that looks like they tried to match and failed and the tub was a third beige-pink! HORRIBLE! This all started with me just wanting to get rid of the tile walls and put up sheet rock, but as I proceeded to remove the tile I just kept going! Thanks to dh's confidence in me and the Home Depot by me is FULL of wonderful people who helped me with any plumbing issues I came across. I had to put new plumbing in for the shower and didn't have to do any sweating because of this new product called "sharkbite". Google it, it's REALLY cool!
Anyone interested in doing something like this -- don't be intimidated! It's mostly labor! I spent about $2000.00 on everything from sheet, toilet, sink, a few tools needed & accessories that aren't up yet. If we had it professionally done it would have been over $8000.00

I'm so envious of you. It looks beautiful and you have done a gorgeous job (but why was the second video on its side?)
Our bathroom needs a re-do SO much. Unfortunately, we can't do it ourselves (David thought he could repaint it, so he's been trying to do that for a year. It's now two colors with mildew at the top. I can't do much because of my car accident, so we're quite the pair!). Our bathroom was long and skinny when it was made 57 years ago. We had the tile redone when we moved in 11 years ago, but we had it done very inexpensively. The vanity is a good representative of 1954 vanities. And this is the good bathroom. The one in the attic is the one which is 4 x 4 feet. David can't stand up straight in it!!

When I was taking the 'footage' I had to turn the camera and you can't flip the video like you can an image.
YOU CAN DO IT VICKI! It's just hard work! All the know how came as a result of LOTS of youtube video watching and seeing what others did and how they did it. I also learned a lot about what NOT to do!
In hindsight, it was well worth it. I'd do it again. My dh says he wants me to put up the walls in our lower level to make a spare room. We are praying to either rent it out as a room for rent or make it available as the Lord leads. We'll see what He, The Lord, wants. He always faithfully leads us.

I know it's hard work! After my accident 7 years ago, things are more challenging to me then they used to be. And with the possible broken knuckles or fingers, it's a little more challenging.
Plus, we don't have money to get a new vanity and things like that. Even if we did, I don't have the strength to take out pipes. I just finished attempting to do the kitchen pipes, and I physically couldn't do the work.
A few years ago I put vinyl tile on my kitchen floor (after trying to paint it five years earlier!). It looked okay. Now they are spread apart and it doesn't look very good. Sigh. We are not exactly "handy" around the house!

I can't watch the videos right now because I've got kids in the same room needing to go to sleep. (I'm letting them sleep in the living room tonight; I'm such a cool mom.) Anyway, I'm dying to watch it because I want to hear Christine's voice you all are talking about. It'll make me think of HOME! Is it a Joisey accent?
Christine, how do you say...
Orange and donkey? When I went to college in Florida, my friends made fun of me because I said arnge. And dunkey. I've had to make a conscious effort to say Orange and DONkey.
I figure if we don't say MONkey, we say munkey. So why can't we say dunkey?

Oh, Michelle--you've brought back such happy memories. My dear friend used to say arnge and dunkey. In fact, he organized a dunkey/elephant race on Interstate 405 before it was opened. This was for the 1964 presidential election (I wasn't old enough to vote!). The interstate ("freeway" is what we called it) was right behind my house, and my friend was a radio announcer, so we got to go and play on the freeway since there were no cars on it. We laughed about the way he said dunkey.
He went on to star in a TV show that some of you have watched (Hogan's Heroes). His name was Bob Crane. I first met him when I was 11 because I used to listen to his Los Angeles radio show and call in. We met a few months later and kept up a friendship for years. I'd never let my daughters have a 'friendship' with an older man like that , but he was a perfect gentleman around me.

Again, Vicki, your life amazes me!
I wonder if they let him say arnge and dunkey on Hogan's Heroes? My dad loved HH; I didn't appreciate it at the time, but I've seen it many times.
So, he was from God's country, then?
When I was in college (PCC), we had a lecturer on video for Bible Doctrines class who was from Philly. He said "dunkey" in class and you could hear the class on video chuckling. He had no idea why everyone was laughing and had to ask them.... That was the first time I realized I said it funny, because I had to ask the kids in MY class why the video class and my class were all chuckling. Sounded fine to me!
Oops...sorry Christine... I hijacked your thread. You can have it back.

Yes, he did say dunkey at least one time on HH. I actually didn't watch the show, but watched him filming it many times. In fact, almost everyone I ever knew or met had shows I never watched!! I was never a big TV watcher growing up or even throughout my life.
When you said God's Country I thought you meant Southern California. He was born in Connecticut.
And yes, we've totally hijacked Christine's thread. I love it!

Should we give it back to her, or keep it? Oh...such a dilemma!
I remember somebody saying once that if your town is God's country, then my town is where He goes for vacations!
Which guy on HH was your friend?

Bob Crane--the star of it! Col. Hogan! Wasn't he a Colonel?

Cool. You always have the neatest stories. (My husband thinks you might just be a nutcase who makes this stuff up. I've assured him that you aren't, but I don't think he believes me.)
(Not to stir up bad memories, but didn't he die very unexpectedly? I don't remember details, since I was still pretty young, but I remember something.... a hotel?)

For your husband: tell him I would never believe all the things I've experienced in my life if it hadn't happened to me. And most of it is verifiable either by my sister, my autographs (most of which I've sold, but I did it through ebay so there is a record of it), my best friend at the time who was with me for some of it, and besides--it's too random to have made it up. I do have photos of some of the stuff.
I NEED TO WRITE DOWN MY LIFE STORY!!
Anyway, yes, Bob was murdered. Apparently he was into certain movies which we won't discuss here. (Do we have a crying smilie?) I was shocked because in all the years I knew him, he could have tried stuff with me and he never did a thing! In fact, I was in many strange situations in Hollywood and other places which could have been horrible, but weren't. Thank You, God.

Nope...I think I'll just wait and let him meet you in Heaven and admit you were real!
edit: I can hear him now... "I met Moses, Elijah, Paul, and...oh...your friend, Vicki? She really DID do all that stuff she told you about; she just told me, and she wouldn't lie in Heaven!"

I wonder how many things God has protected us from that we don't even know about? Amazing! I'm sorry about your friend; I'm sure that was hard on you!

I would read it.
You ladies have me cracking up this morning! Michelle, my accent (I "guess" I have one!) doesn't really show up in the video....I don't think! My heaviest Jersey accent DOES show up whenever i say "dog" ....dawg. It just always comes out that way. Especially when I tell the kids I'm going to " wawwwwwk the dawwwwg. LOL!

I really wish I could drywall, I have alot of that ugly 70's paneling. I can rip the drywall off, but it's after that. I hate that paneling.
