Baby Weight

Postby Allison » Mon Jan 10, 2011 6:26 pm

I want to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes which means I need to lose about 20 pounds. I've never really struggled with my weight before so it's incredibly discouraging that it's taking so long to get back in shape. I need to lose the poochy tummy and do some toning and tightening.

Overall I eat a pretty healthy diet and drink TONS of water, but I need to stop snacking in the evening.
I also need to exercise more. I've always been active, so I know I can do it- I just have to work around a little person's schedule. Today I went 1.6 miles on the treadmill and then stretched. It's not much but it's a start.

My goal is to lose the weight by Chloe's first birthday (May 13).

The good news is, you are used to a healthy diet and being active. You have the advantage over someone who is a couch potato and eats junky food all the time. Now it's all about putting the pedal to the metal and actively doing what you've gotta do...cut down on the snacking and exercising on a regular basis. With a little one, that can be difficult, but not impossible. If you put your mind to it, you can get it done. Of that, I have no doubt. :)

Be sure to pop in and share your progress with us. :cheer

Thanks for the encouragement, Gen. I feel like I'm becoming a couch potato and I want to nip it in the bud!

I was so hungry last night and I really wanted to have some garlic and black bean tortilla chips with salsa and sour cream but I was good- I drank a big glass of water and then had 3 oz of yogurt. This morning I did one mile on the treadmill while the baby was sleeping and it took me 16 minutes. I know my exercise routine needs to be varied to be the most successful but I think for now I will focus on increasing my enurance on the treadmill and then add in more toning exercises.

I feel like I should post some 'before' pictures but I don't know if I'm brave enough...

Take the pictures...for yourself later. :) Oh, and be sure to also take measurements. I so wished I'd done that before starting the lose-it app last year.

Thanks Tamie, those links were really helpful. My baby is already 20 lb so there is definitely the possibility for some weight bearing exercises, ha ha!

I took some torso pictures yesterday after working out and a full length picture while I was at your house the other day. Maybe you can help me with the measurements. You look great, btw. How much have you lost so far?

So. On to business. First of all, this forum is already helping me to keep myself accountable. I feel like right now I need to post about my progress every day until it becomes more of a habit. Now the successes and failures...

SUCCESS: This morning I jogged for a mile then did a cool down walk for another half mile then stretching. I almost collapsed after that first mile but it was worth it.

SUCCESS: The first mile took me exactly 15 minutes, which is faster than yesterday's time.

FAILURE: Brian and I shared a bag of Pillsbury Sweet Moments brownies. They are bite-sized but could I stop at just one? No. Sigh. Anyone else have a spouse with a crazy fast metabolism who can eat whatever he wants and not gain an ounce?

Allison, the brownie incident was still a succes because you SHARED the bag with him instead of eating the whole thing! Even the little bitty small choices that were better than yesterday's choices will lead to success in the long run. Keep it up!!

I agree with Sherry. I would have eaten the whole bag. :B I like the idea of posting my successes and failures every day in this forum. I may have to do that. Maybe if I came to post here every day, I could stay accountable.

Keep working on it, Allison. For me, it's frustrating because I don't see results right away but I know if I keep at it, I can accomplish it. I'm sure the same will happen for you. Keep on keeping on! :)
