Working out

Postby Stacy » Sat Mar 19, 2011 5:38 am

Mom and Dad bought a Wii for dd for Christmas. I used some of our hs money and bought the Wii Fit. I'm in my 10th week of using it. I try to use it for 30 minutes a day, but on my days off work, I try to do at least 1-1/2 hours.

For the first time ever, I have obvious muscle mass. Those muscles are getting very firm and it feels WONDERFUL! I rarely wake up complaining of being stiff and sore. And I rarely have asthma attacks. I still have to use my inhalers, but at least I'm not having so many asthma flare-ups.

The Wii has also been great for venting out frustrations. Just a few rounds of boxing, and I'm perfectly calm again. LOL!

I have lost 10 pounds, which may not seem like much, but I've been building lots of muscle mass, which weighs more than fat. I have dropped 2 sizes already. I'm starting to get my curves back. I didn't realize how much I'd missed them until I saw them starting to return! (A coworker, who is in her 8th mo. of pregnancy said, "I have curves too -- just not where I want them!)

So for those of you who have a Wii and need to use it more, I hope this post encourages you to do so!

That's great, Stacy. We have a Wii, but I've never use it at all. Maybe I should have Kyle set it up in the living room and give it a try. Way to stick to it!!!!

Thanks for the recommendation, Stacy. I've been wanting to make myself buy Wii Fit for a year or so, but I'm having a hard time justifying the money right now. I wish I knew, knew, knew that I'd make myself do it. Is it something that several of us could do at the same time, or would we all need balance boards for it?

My parents have one, and I don't know that they use it. Maybe I'll see if Mom will pass it on to me? Hmm...

Only one person at a time can use the Wii Fit. I am the one in our house who uses it the most. This week, we finally bought an extra Wii remote and nunchuk so that dd and I can box each other, compete against each other in some of the training sessions on the Wii sports, as well as have dancing competitions on the Wii Dance.

Thanks, Stacy.

Speaking of Wii Dance.... Is there anything kinda sorta like that, but with Christian music? Or maybe oldies? (Like before most music became raunchy?) Something the kids and I would enjoy moving to? I fear that most of what I've seen would make me move, but only the bang-my-head-against-the-wall kind of moving.

Stacy, that is wonderful! My dd received a Wii for Christmas. It's in the living room so we can all play it, though. I think I just might get that Wii-fit one day. Keep it up!

Michelle, you and I think alike. I've been scared to get any dance games because of the music. :P

I don't know of any Christian versions for the Wii dance. Yes, there are some raunchy songs on it. There is one that when I read the lyrics, I told dd that she is not to play that song in our house. It is about being g*y.

Some of the songs are ok. We only do about 1/4 of the songs. We've found some we really like for the workouts, and we tend to stick with those.

Here's a funny one for you -- DD was dancing to a song called "Acceptable in the 80s." She asked, "Mom, what was acceptable in the 80s?" I replied, "Well, I got saved in the early 80s,so that is what was acceptable to me." She replied, "That works for me!" :-)
