So, the Dave Ramsey course is coming to my church. It is $125 to join. Is it worth the commitment? Or should I just read his book?

I find that interesting that your church is charging $125. My church is offering Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Univerity for $99.

Each time I hear testimonies on his seminar, I feel so blessed to have had a dad who knew how to live the life style that Dave Ramsey is preaching and taught me how to do the same. I am also blessed to have married a man who believes in the same principles. I am amazed at how well my dad did in life on his salary, his willingness to save and his knowledge of investing.

I know I am not answering your question but I do want to give a plug for having savings. After my dad died, my mom was temporarily left without insurance until her's kicked in. She was expected to cover her medicine. It was close to a $1,000 for that one month. She has the beginning stages of alzheimer so her medicine is expensive but I am sure there are other elderly people who have costly medicine. Next week, I am taking her to a dr. who does not take medicare. She will have to pay first and then be reimbursed. That is expected to cost $500. I feel so blessed that because of my dad financial situation she has nothing worry about when these sums are thrown at her.

yes, IMO, it is worthwhile.

That said, it hasn't come to our church/area...but I'd be there if it did!

I think it's worth it. Though I've never heard of a church asking for $125 for it. Ours and others in this area offer it for either $99 or $100. Our church has a 'scholarship' of $50 for those who need it.

Thanks for letting me know what others charge. I think I know why ours is charging more. Our church is currently meeting at our Community Center on Sunday mornings while they are working on our new building. I think they are going to hold the class there as well and need to cover the cost of the room.

I sure would like to get dh to agree to go. He is in construction, and once he is home at night, he has no desire to go anywhere. He is usually exhausted. Hmmmm. I'll have to keep this in prayer. Maybe he will do it. I would love to be on the same page with him.

I just found out through our homeschool group that a local church is offering this. I know dh won't want to pay the money to do it but we'll see.

We are going!!

A sweet lady from church heard that I wanted to go and paid the money! Dh agreed since it was free. I would love to get financially free and pay her back and then some.

Congratulations. I know at my church that people were so happy with the program that they were offering scholarships for people to take it this second time round.

I signed up for it at our church. It costs $102 and starts tomorrow. Dh is working so he won't make it. I sure hope I can do enough to influence him too. I'm telling myself I can't afford not to take it :B
