I've just learned that one of my DIL's aunts has pancreatic cancer, and it's advanced to the point that she does not have much time left. I believe that she knows the Lord, although I don't know her personally beyond having met her at the wedding last year.

Please pray for P, and for DIL's mom, and P's other sisters. They're a close-knit family, and live in MD.

DIL is looking for flights back to the USA from Scotland, so please pray that she finds something soon that's affordable, and can return in time. Thanks.

Autumn update 9/5

Autumn has been responding to various commands made by medical staff and family members, such as raising her thumb and moving her toes. Her brain pressure has stabilized. She did have a fever a few days ago, but is now maintaining a normal temperature. Friday evening, she opened her eyes for a moment; this also happened Saturday morning - very exciting! Also, she has begun to making jolting motions, which is very good, as it implies alertness. Many patients with her condition go through a couple other stages before reaching the "alertness" stage that she is at, and her doctor is very impressed by her progress. Autumn has had bad days, but (as can be seen) she has had some really good days, too! Please continue to pray. God is working miracles before our eyes."

Big scare today!

The good news is that I don't have a detached retina! The bad news is that I feel like I'm looking through floating strands of algae! I had a floater in my eye last night but didn't think anything of it. I had another really small one this morning and didn't think anything of it. I needed to drive to Montrose to pick up my serger but at the last minute Hannah couldn't go until later (and the guy was closing early today) and then Sarah was asked to teach a class at the college, so I went by myself. I went on down to Delta (2 hours away) for some material for Sarah and came out the door and couldn't see out of my left eye! I drove towards Montrose because I knew by the time someone could come get me, everything would be closed for the weekend. I don't like driving with one eye closed! Sarah called the ophthalmologist in Montrose and they agreed to squeeze me in--we don't have anything but an optometrist in Gunny. It's a huge practice--I'd taken Hannah there when she had a piece of metal in her eye. It was better after they dilated my eye as I couldn't focus on the floaties. I guess as your eyes age, the vitreous humor thickens and it can pull away from the back of the eye, causing bleeding. It's not uncommon. The bad thing is that it will get less dense, but I'm just going to have to live with it. Of course it would be my LEFT eye, as I have a 60% sight loss in my right from a huge histo scar. Ugh. It was a looong drive home, under the speed limit, with the weekend traffic. But, there was no way to get anyone to pick me up and then we'd have had a vehicle stuck in Montrose. I'm grateful that it isn't worse!
