April: 62 Miles and Water

This month with Leslie Sansone DVDs and streaming videos online, I've walked 62 miles.

I seem to be getting a bit stronger and building endurance. I've done quite a few 2-mile walks and even a couple of 3-mile ones.

I also added an increase of water intake to my days, with a target of 8 cups a day. Oddly enough, I found drinking more water almost more difficult than walking. Not sure what's up with that.

30lbs

YAY!! I'm now at the 30lb mark! It's taken longer than I hoped but I've been less than careful on weekend eating. It's hard when you spend HOURS at the soccer field and you're only choice is a Slim Jim (and I don't care for them!). And of course birthdays, birthdays, birthdays from Feb-May isn't helping much either. But, slow and steady, I will still take the 30lb loss I've obtained.

dh is down 50lbs already. He is really doing well and has so much more willpower than I do

The kids have trimmed down by default just from our not having pasta, rice or bread during our dinner a couple times a week.

I have been HORRIBLE about excercising on my treadmill. I can only do it when someone is here to watch Caleb since he insists on coming over to check out what mama's doing. And in the evenings, 4 nights a week we have soccer practice. I don't WANT to make excuses. I WANT to get on there and walk. Especially since I'd like to have these legs ready for all the walking we'll be doing on our vacation this summer. I NEED them to be ready to spend 2 weeks walking every day. I think I am going to start waking up 30 minutes earlier and try to walk before Caleb wakes. It's important.

This is me trying to do better....

I'm trying to change so many things about myself and my home. I was doing pretty well, but I've been sick with the crud for over a week, and things really started to slip. I've recently started flylady in an effort to get (and keep) my house in order. My house in not filthy, but it's often in disarray due to general neglect, laziness, and disorganization. I've also started an aerobics class 3 days a week, and started being more aware of my fitness level and what I eat. And I'm really trying to pay off $10k of a $16k debt before the end of the year. I seem to do well until I hit a bump, then fall off the wagon, no matter what I'm working on. I have great intentions, but my follow-through is sometimes lacking. All of this is doable if I can keep my mind wrapped around it.

So, I'm committing to doing the aerobics class faithfully. I lost 30 pounds 2-1/2 years ago, but I've recently gained back 10. I really don't want to look or feel the way I did before I lost the weight, so I'm really trying hard to reverse the trend.

I'm going to try harder to do my flylady baby steps and quit being so obsessive about "getting it all done now". That attitude is why I can't seem to keep it done on a regular basis. I'm really trying to lose that attitude and adopt the baby step way of life, so I can create life-long routines.

And I've committed to restrain from buying myself any new clothes this summer. I realize that doesn't seem like a big sacrifice for many swappies, but it is a bug step for me. I spent way too much money this weekend buying summer clothes for my kids, but I don't want to spend anymnore on any clothes that aren't 100% necessary. My kids needed clothes that fit, but I don't need anymore personally.

My goals by the end of summer:
1. Feel better by exercising and taking care of my body. I would like to lose 20 pounds and be more toned.
2. I would love my house to be completely in order, and have a habit of keeping it that way. That includes getting rid of excess stuff, being organized, and actually using my dressers instead of just storing more "stuff" in them.
3. Make better financial decisions, including using a real budget, creating an emergency fund, and paying back the debt I mentioned earlier.

Please help me be accountable.

March: 67 Miles

I didn't know if I should keep posting how much I've walked in the health forum, and decided this would probably be a better place for that information.

On March 2, I started indoor walking with Leslie Sansone online streaming videos and several of her DVDs. I've been doing them mostly in 1 mile blocks several times a day, as that seems to strike a good balance: Not exhausting, but enough to break a good sweat and get my muscles warm.

Sixty-seven miles in one month may not sound like much, but considering it's me who has been doing the walking, it's a pretty big accomplishment.
