"What is it?" you're probably asking yourself. Well, it's NOT a smoke detector, but a fire/heat detector.  The alarm is engineered to go off when the temperature reaches 135 degrees farenheit.

"Why would I want this?" is probably your next question.

Ask yourself this: Why don't I have a smoke detector in the kitchen? Answer: Because every time you burn toast - or put anything in the oven -  it goes off. So, you did like everyone else did - you took the batteries out of it. A lot of good it does you now if you have a fire starting in the kitchen at 2:30 in the morning. Half of your house could burn down before the smoke detector in your bedroom goes off.

However, this unit (which also includes the hardware to function as an entry alarm) doesn't care about smoke...only heat. And when it goes off, you WILL hear it - 100 decibels of a very loud firebell. The best part - no batteries to replace - the unit operates manually (you wind it up) Comes with a wall mounting plate plus additional hardware for entry alarm.
