Praise God, ds is almost finished Algebra 1.  (30 lessons to go!!)   We are not considering Alg 2 at this point.  Would it be okay to do Consumer Math next year followed by Geometry?   Or should Geometry come first? (if so why?)

We need a break from struggling with math.  With A1, he is spending several hours a day and other subjects are suffering.

Thanks,

Many kids who don't understand Algebra do very well in Geometry, and vice versa.  What curriculum are you using?  I believe you can do Consumer Math between the two.

For us, we're not planning on doing Algebra 2.  Ever. (At least not until she wants to homeschool her kids!)

I did some consumer math books and some geometry (but not a formal geometry book... just some things here and there). I am NOT a geometry person but always found everything else easy. You may want to do some basic stats, too, since that could be useful.

I do think that math through calculus really does help, even if you won't ever use it again. I know that it has helped me think logically, if nothing else.

We are struggling through Alg. 1 too.  I don't remember it being this hard.  I'd like to get the Key to Algebra series sometime.  There is a Key to Geometry as well I think.

It's good to see you posting!

I would do geometry next so that any necessary algebraic principles won't have been forgotten.    Then I'd go to the useful practicalities of consumer math.

Algebra for me was a fog of confusion ... but geometry was fun.
