Does anyone know the vers(es) that "God doesn't give us more than we can handle" is based on?

1 Corinthians 10:13 (New International Version)

13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

KJV
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

James 1:12: “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

I think that relates...

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence. . . ." - Max Ehrmann, "Desiderata"

actually... what I thought I remembered is different, but I think that's a misinterpretation along the way.

I thought there was a verse saying that God doesn't give us more than we can handle, and that this relates to all of life's situations, for instance a crime committed against us.

The quoted verse clears it up to mean that God doesn't let us be TEMPTED beyond our capability to resist.
