Nonfat Granola

Here is a version of granola that I got out of the "Miserly Moms" book. My dh is kind of picky but he loves this cereal better than the store bought.

5 cups quick oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup concentrated apple juice
1/2 cup dry milk
1/3 cup honey
2 TBSP cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup dried fruit

Mix sugar, juice, dry milk and honey in saucepan, and heat until sugar
dissolves. Combine other dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Pour sugar mixture slowly over dry mixture and blend well. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. (I have found that 20 minutes is all it needs to cook. I add 1/2 cup raisins after cooking and let cool before putting into an airtight container)
OPTIONS: Be creative by adding peanuts, sunflower seeds, coconut,
sesame seeds, peanut butter or whatever else your family has handy to the mix.

Cost Analysis: (1 pound)
Store bought: $2.39
Homemade: $1.00

*Cost depends on dried fruit added to cereal. I only add raisins and my dh likes it so well that he doesn't want me to experiment with other additions.
